Care & Maintenance

“Heavy cast iron, smooth enamel, simple care. Not everything has to be a lifestyle crisis.”

  • Hand wash recommended — clean with warm water and a soft sponge.
  • Avoid harsh scrubbing — protect the enamel coating from metal tools and abrasive pads.
  • Dry fully before storing — especially around the rim and lid edges.
  • Use medium heat first — cast iron holds heat strongly, so preheat gradually.
  • Protect the enamel — avoid sudden temperature shock, like cold water on a very hot pot.

Inexpensive but high quality.

I love the two in one pan cast iron Dutch Oven. I use the bottom part for outdoor frying on an induction stove top plate. I like that it keeps the mess and odor outside. My wife used the top part for making cornbread. The cast iron comes seasoned. It could use further seasoning but it does work right out of the box. I appreciate the durability of cast iron. Although it’s on the inexpensive side it has a nice fit and finish. It’s perfect for frying for up to 4 people.

Beautiful Sourdough

Great for making sourdough. This is a heavy pan, make sure to pre-heat!Love that it was coated in non-gmo flax; whereas, others don’t mention what the coating is.Low-cost alternative to the Challenger for others looking

Perfect for making a batard shaped sourdough loaf

This Dutch oven was so much cheaper than most oval shaped ones but the quality for the price you pay is just as good as the pricey ones. You can use this is in so many different ways. It baked my sourdough loaf perfect and was what I wanted for my oval shaped loaves. It is perfectly sized for a regular sized loaf, For reference the recipe I use is 500grams flour, 325 grams water, 100grams starter, 8 grams salt and it fits just right. I put my dough on the lid to bake and then used the pot part as the lid so it is alot easier to put your dough in and out of when preheated, your not reaching down into a hot pot, it’s a lot easier to access this way and bakes up perfect. Happy I went ahead and purchased this!

Great Purchase!!

I love my Cast Iron Dutch Oven! Ready to use! Seasoned once and it was ready to go! I have baked bread, cooked stew, roasted meat, baked potatos, pasta bakes, gravy, more bread, used lid for hash browns. Very easy to clean -no soap just wipe out season and again and go! It's just a great versatile kitchen must have! Great purchase and worth every penny.

Perfection!

Look for the price this thing is a knockout! My sourdough comes out perfect using it. We use the top when making breakfast as we can have our other cast iron pans making sausage and eggs and this one for hash browns so what's not to love. The silicon handle protectors are pretty dumb and fall off easily but we already have Ove Gloves so we don't even use them, but we didn't but this for those anyway.Make sure to heat it slowly before using and up to a pretty good temp and season often. I bake our sourdough at 550° and this has held up great

I Expected Less and Got More.

Well, I had seen a review where a person had some corrosion on their nearly new edge casting pan so I expected that the seasoning would not be up to Lodge standards. It does not seem to be so. But cast iron enthusiasts know that some people should not have cast iron. So I immediately did something you should not do with cast iron myself. So I guess I should not have cast iron. The first thing I decided to cook was Birria tacos and the recipe called for a dutch oven. This was the only dutch oven I own and I love me some Birria. Birria has acid. Specifically tomatoes and vinegar. I know that this will give any seasoning a problem, and although I rubbed this one down with oil when I got it I did not heat it to season it myself. I decided to risk it. And the factory seasoning survived in perfect shape. See the pictures. One is the lid the other the pan. It was not completely non-stick but I did not need to use anything stronger than water and a rag to clean it. I seasoned it, and put it away gleaming black. It is the right size for sourdough bread, and 5 pounds of chuck cooked to birria. 20-25 dollars less money and this kind of performance I made a good decision. The difference in price paid for my family's dinner tonight.

Great product, 2 in 1

Great product, 2 in 1. You can use it both as a frying pan and for roasting, which makes it very convenient and versatile. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time. The cast iron quality is excellent. I tried roasting meat in the oven, and it turned out really well. It’s also easy to find a lid that fits the size perfectly.

Worth the value for the money

You can’t beat the price for this Dutch oven. I love using it to bake sourdough loaves. It’s a little on the rougher side in terms of smoothness but I simply scrubbed with one of the chain mail and it smoothed it out a little. It is super sturdy. I do recommend seasoning it though. Perfect size.

More than a Dutch oven

This is a wonderful buy. I find myself using the lid more than the actual pot. It is an amazing skillet. Very good sear. I have used this quite a few times. I have braised lamb and roasted a prime rib in the Dutch oven. I am very happy with the results. This is a great Dutch oven. I have bought cheaper enamel ones over the years around the $50-$70 range. I am happy to say that I don't think I will ever have to buy another Dutch oven again if I could give more than five stars I would.

Great for Sourdough Bread

No need to preheat Dutch oven. Get your oven to 450 for at least 15 min. Use parchment paper misted with water to stick paper to the Dutch oven lid. Form parchment paper by setting bottom of Dutch oven into the top. Trim paper 1" around top with scissors, and make sure is stuck to Dutch oven. Then invert top of Dutch oven over proofing basket, flip to transfer loaf, and remove basket. Easy-peasy! After scoring, cover loaf with bottom of Dutch oven for steaming part of baking (20 min) to get oven spring - then remove for final baking (15 min more)!!

Love this 2 in 1 pot! BESTEST!!

I purchased this pot to bake sourdough bread in.. I am soooo happy with this particular purchase.. I usually cook with only cast iron cook and bakeware…I have MANY that all hang on my walls in kitchen. I was alittle nervous purchase a cast iron piece online.. but as circumstances had it, I kind of had no other choice because I wanted it asap… and couldn’t get to a store. I must admit.. that I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and I could feel and see the quality.. but it also blew me away after baking my 1st loaf of sourdough bread! Bravo!! Worth every penny spent on this pan (which is less than it was at store I purchase most of my cast iron cooking supplies).. I use it almost every day… baking breads and other goodies…. I haven’t used it for anything else yet.. but cleans up easy peasy.. and nothing has stuck to it at all. I give it an A+. Run.. don’t walk.. but one…. Better yet, order one here on Amazon.. ! Just sayin!

Sourdough Dutch oven on a budget

A friend recommended this cast iron Dutch oven after he had bought a much pricier one & said the big name brands aren’t worth the price difference. Not only does the base do the same job at lower price, but the expensive brand doesn’t have a reversible lid the way this model does; the lid can function as a skillet on its own.I’m using this just for a sourdough bread Dutch oven. The recipe & method I use, calls for putting 3 ice cubes in with the loaf as it bakes, for steam to help it rise. My friend said no matter how he tries to take care of his expensive brand Dutch oven, it still rusts from the ice cubes. If that’s the use I’m going for & it’s gonna rust anyway, I’m very happy with this well-priced & sturdy Dutch oven just for sourdough. This was only my 2nd attempt at making sourdough bread, and clearly these are “new baker” loafs, but they’re leaps & bounds better than the ones from my first batch when I didn’t have a Dutch oven & cobbled together something “good enough.”Cook times were exactly per recipe. The size is just right for a round or oval boule standard size bread loaf & probably other shapes I haven’t tried yet as well.Bonus: this included a freebie set of silicone grip pads for the handles. That was unexpected & nice & practical.

Always coat lightly with cooking oil when not in use

Easy clean up and you can save on your propane since the pot stays hot for a long time. I love the fact that you can use the lid as a pan so it’s a two for one deal
